Strange how these saying are popping into my mind. The saying "Stike While the Iron is Hot" comes from the old "blacksmith days." a blacksmith would heat up a branding iron until it would turn red from the heat. He would then immediately strike it with a hammer to shape it the way he wanted it. The phrase means "take action while you've got a chance; don't dillydally (delay, through indecision).

That's an old joke, I know. When going on a date where something "might happen" be prepared. Carry necessary items with you to avoid trouble. Even if the lady (or guy -- as the case may be), smiles and says, "Don't worry, nothing is going to happen," it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
You know, have on hand a flash light, "mad money," jumper cables, and other items that can easily be procured at your local drug store -- aspirin, ibuprofin, and so on.
